Our new kittens have been such a fantastic addition to our family; they are the sweetest, naughtiest, cutest little buggers ever! I didn’t think we’d ever get another pet after losing our cat Arizona earlier this year, but I’m thankful we decided to adopt brothers Tucker and Kobe for my girls because they bring soooo much happiness into our house. They make us laugh, smile and giggle and are so loving and sweet(and even better since they were declawed as the furniture, curtains, toys and basically every object in the house is not getting destroyed)! They are also extremely different from our cat Arizona and waaaaaay crazier. Like Tucker; he LOVES water and tries to jump into the shower and bath, he tries to eat everything from pizza to carrots and he has the craziest way of sitting down…see picture above. I’ve never seen a cat sit like that before! It looks like he’s laying down but that is actually the way he sits, how funny is that?? Crazy boy! Bonus is Tucker.

I’m feeling super gipped today because I really didn’t get much of a Sunday and that makes me super sad. L I started getting a headache late Saturday night and by the time I woke up yesterday it was a full blown migraine. I made it up and out of bed and the house to church and through services and Sunday school but then I crashed for the rest of the afternoon. It pretty much sucked. I’m feeling so much better today but trying to take it really easy as to not trigger another one because then I’d just have to cut my entire head right off to get rid of the pain. Bonus is migraine.

I am soooo fed up with all the haters today. I don’t have the time for people who complain and whine, so don’t do it to me. I choose to look at the positive and be HAPPY for those who are succeeding and doing well. I, as you may have figured out, am talking about the CMA Awards last night. Instead of Country Music fans being supportive and excited for the winners, I’ve been hearing from people upset about Taylor winning, or Lady Antebellum, or Sugarland, or Darius Rucker or Jamey Johnson…you get my point. Spread some LOVE instead of negativity and hate, there isn’t enough room in this beautiful world for that!
I have listened to Country Music ever since I was a little girl because my dad would listen to it, I didn’t learn to appreciate it until I was in my late teens and I’ve grown to love it over the years and now it is my passion! I’m as big of fan of the genre as anyone else, but I get the fact that genres change and grow and as a fan you need to roll with the changes (well sung REO Speedwagon). Country today is NOT the County of yesterday…50’s, 60’s, 70’s 80’s and even 90’s Country is history and you can either embrace the path that Country Music is on or you can stop listening to it but STOP complaining about it!
I LOVE it when artists bring more fans to the format and I LOVE even more when those new fans discover the music of the artists that brought us to where we are today. Patsy Cline, Waylon Jennings, Johnny Cash, Tim McGraw, Kenny Chesney (and this list could go on FOREVER) all experienced resistance from Country Music fans when they first started out because they weren’t what Country Music was all about…says WHO?
I love many different types of music and I choose to embrace my love of music and appreciate the beauty and art of those that are talented enough to sing and play music. I don’t care if they are 10 or 100 or if they play Country, Jazz, Pop, R&B, Polka, Folk or WHATEVER kind of music…if it’s something that moves me, I’m a fan! We need more fans and more love and less hate.
Go ahead and be upset that Taylor, Lady A, Jamey Johnson, Sugarland or Darius Rucker won an award but don’t spew hate everywhere you go and DON’T bring your hate to me because even if I don’t care for an artist or song, you WON’T hear me spewing about it to you because I respect the fact that you may disagree. We all have opinions but the world isn’t going to end because Taylor Swift won an award and your favorite artist(s) didn’t. Life isn’t fair but life is beautiful and life should be lived with love and an award show shouldn’t give you a heart attack because you don’t agree with who won. Bonus is love.

CMA’s tonight!! I am so very excited to watch the CMA’s and can’t wait to get home, get dinner made, kids bathed, homework finished and into my comfy p.j’s with a glass of wine all snuggled up on the couch to watch WOOT WOOT! J It’s gonna be a great night…I can feel it. If you miss it, no worries, you know I’ll have a ton of video, stories and pictures to recap it all in my I Heart Music blog http://tiny.cc/iheartmusic !
I have a new email address! I’ve been getting loads of calls in the studio asking why I’m not responding to emails. If I get one, I sure will respond, but if you aren’t sending them to my new email address I’m not getting them. L Update your records and please send all email to vanessa.ryan@mwcradio.com ! I’ve been out of the loop since last week Thursday so I’m getting caught up on EVERYTHING and finally just watched the soccer video (thanks Ken Clark) everyone has been buzzing about. Watch New Mexico's Elizabeth Lambert’s questionable play above… My girls ADORE soccer and both are great players but as a parent I would be all over them if I ever saw them play this way. Are you kidding me?? Bonus is soccer.

Whuh-oh! I’m starting to maybe-kinda-sorta feel sickish. My poor little nine year old daughter is super duper sick today and has been sleeping the day away at grandmas. I was feeling fine and dandy until halfway through the day when I got slammed with a massive headache, chills and a little fever. I’ve been doing my best at staying away from all the sick people at work, using tons of soap and water, hand sanitizer, disinfectant spray, taking my vitamins faithfully and generally avoiding germs so I’m hoping my body is not really sick but faking sickness. Keeping my fingers crossed!! Bonus is germs.
